WOODBURY — The Arts Alliance of Woodbury will mount its Members’ Exhibition during September at the Woodbury Library Gallery, 269 Main St. South. A reception to launch the exhibition is set for 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, September 5, and promises to be a significant celebration of the arts in Woodbury during these days of pandemic. The reception and the awarding of prizes will take place outside the front entrance of the gallery, weather permitting, and with social distancing.
Bob Burns, distinguished director of the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury, will juror the exhibition and award four prizes of $200 each in the following categories: Best in Portraiture, Best in Landscape, Best in Still Life and Best in Other.
Organizers explained that the exhibition is limited to recent works and as such, some may reflect the times in which we find ourselves. It was not the intention of AAW to seek works focused solely on the pandemic.
“We are simply thrilled by the quality and diversity of the submitted work by our members and are extremely fortunate to be able to exhibit our work in the exceptional gallery space created by the Woodbury Library,” said AAW Board Member Michael Gallagher.
Founded in 2016, the Arts Alliance of Woodbury is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit organization committed to fostering the arts in Woodbury and the surrounding area.
The Arts Alliance welcomes new members. Membership includes attendance to their lauded quarterly “meet and greets” on the second Wednesday of December, March, June and September.
AAW wishes to acknowledge the continued generosity of its presenting sponsors, Good News Restaurant and Bar, Premier Financial Services, Watertown Animal Hospital, Watertown Home Care LLC, Shaker Automotive Group and Country Spirit Shop.
