THOMASTON - A familiar face to Thomaston High School sports is returning to the sideline this fall, as Jennifer Ewart takes the reins of the Golden Bears’ girls soccer program this fall.
Replacing Jeffrey Dickau, Ewart, the former THS athletic director, will bring her knowledge of the game and experience as a player to the mix when the season kicks off at home against The Gilbert School on Friday, September 13 at 3:45 p.m.
“We’ll feature a strong group of six seniors who have demonstrated their leadership skills and experience as well as a talented group of underclassmen,” said Ewart.
Senior forward Danja Dauti, senior defender Sydney Stevenson, Berkshire League Second Team player, junior Mackenzie McCarthy, and senior goalie Emily Root are the top returning players for a team Ewart believes is ready for the next level.
“We’re looking forward to being a competitive opponent in the Berkshire League,” said Ewart.
Among the juniors on the roster are goalie Courtney LeClair, Vlera Kutllovci, Danielle Ayoub, Anna Colavecchio, Emma Kahn, Elyse Krasnowski, Abigail Blasko, Alana Veronesi, and Sophia Oliveira.
Mackenzie DiDonato, Madisyn Theriault, Julia Puprriqi, Emilee Guillet, and Haley Grecco are the sophomore contingent.
“Our goal as the program continues to build is to work on our core strengths and skills,” added Ewart.
“With new coaching and a revived team culture, we have our sights set on a tournament bid.”
Don’t doubt Ewart’s goal.
